Medication Therapy Management -- A Free Review of Your Medications Once a Year

Let’s take a minute to talk about our Medication Therapy Management program, or “MTM” for short.

MTM is an opportunity to have a health care team member, like a pharmacist, review all of your medications, and to teach you about them. MTM is really important! In fact, your health plan pays for it, and there is no charge for you!

You may see your doctor when you are sick. And, you probably see your doctor once a year for an annual checkup. You see your pharmacist when you fill your medicines. But, do you see your pharmacist once a year to review ALL of your medicines? If you are like many people, you may not be in the habit of scheduling an MTM visit. But, it’s important to have an MTM appointment once a year.

Your pharmacist or health care team member can help you clearly understand the benefits of your medications. They can also help you learn more about side effects -- and ways to avoid them. They may even be able to save you money by finding lower cost options that may be available.

MTM is offered to select patients who are enrolled in a Medicare drug coverage plan. Patients who are eligible for MTM include those who take many medicines, who have many long-lasting health conditions, or who have high drug costs.

Many MTM meetings are done face-to-face, but sometimes they can be done over the phone. MTM also gives you a chance to ask questions, and talk about concerns that you may have. An MTM review usually takes about 30 minutes, but the benefits can last a lifetime.
